Radar Altimeter Simulator
Product profile and purpose
The radar altimeter simulator is a portable frequency modulation continuous wave (FMCW) and pulse radio altitude simulator based on radio-frequency processing technology. It is quickly connected to an airborne radio altimeter via two antenna couplers, and its radio frequency (RF) simulates the radio altitude. The simulation range is from 0 m to 15,000 m, with a simulation accuracy of ±0.3 m. It can not only make single-point simulation of the altitude, but also set the altitude change rate, thus realizing continuous and smooth slope altitude simulation, and verifying the decision altitude and altitude journey of the automatic landing system. While simulating the altitude, it also measures the altimeter parameters, including frequency, power and so on, to judge the operating status of the altimeter. The equipment can operate either independently, or via program control on the data interface.

Main characteristics
RF processing, and digital delay technology
Relying on delay line technology, traditional altitude simulator can only simulate a finite number of discrete points, and its equipment is cumbersome. However, radar altimeter simulator processes RF signal of the altimeter directly, with continuous simulated value of altitude. The whole equipment is of small volume and light weight. Since it adopts digital signal processing technology, it can also make parameter measurement of the altitude receiver and transmitter. Based on RF signal processing, the radar altimeter simulator can make altitude simulation of microwave altimeter of different systems, such as frequency modulation continuous wave (FMCW) system, pulse system and so on.
High-speed signal processing
In order to guarantee simulation accuracy of altitude, the master clock of the digital circuit part at 1GHz, with input and output speeds of 8Gbps respectively. The radar altimeter simulator has made breakthroughs in high-speed signal PCB layout technology, FPGA high-speed interface technology, FPGA high-speed signal processing technology and so on.
Software radio technology that guarantees the scalability
In principle, the radar altimeter simulator can simulate an altitude up to tens of thousands of meters; with simulation accuracy of altitude at ±0.3 m. It adopts enhancement algorithm, with an accuracy of ±0.15 m; in accordance with the mathematical model, it can simulate different terrain, different vegetation and other flight environment.
Easy operation
The radar altimeter simulator adopts large-size LCD screen, which is easy for setting of parameters and reading of measured parameters; the set parameters can be saved, which is convenient for repeated measurement; it only needs to set the altitude value, while other relevant parameters can be set by either automatic calculation, or manual intervention; it provides external program control interface, which can be controlled by an external program during the measurement process.
